3 men went on a business trip and to save on the expense of the trip the 3 decided to split the hotel fee and each pithed in $10.00. The clerk realized that he overcharged the men and the room was actually $25.00 and he sent the bell boy up to the men with $5.00. The bell boy was trying to figure out how to split 5 bucks evenly between 3 men. He gave each guy a dollar and kept 2 to himself. So technically they each paid 9 dollars for the room which make 27 and the bell boy kept 2 bucks which makes it $29.00. Where is the other dollar?

I see the numbers like this:
Room= 30/3= 10 a piece
Actual: room = 25
Bell boy delivers $1.00 back to each man = $3.00, bell boy keeps $2.00 which = $5.00
so $25 + $3.00 ($1.00 from each man) + $2.00 (bell boy "tip") = $30.00.
Where's your extra dollar?
trish we already know that. the question is, if each man was returned $1 then they each paid out $9 right? so 9x3=27 and then the bell boy has $2 where is the extra doallar?
There is no extra dollar. The cashier kept it.
